I have a fear that EDM310 will be too much for me to handle; however, I know that if I have good time management I will succeed in this class. Just like any other class that I have taken in college, the teacher has expected us to do our very best. However, EDM310 is a project based class. I have never taken a class that is project based, so this will be the biggest difference from any class I have taken.
The biggest difficulty I think I will have is using new technology that I have never used before. This scares me just a little because I like knowing how to do everything. At least Dr. Strange has already acknowledge that he understands that his students will not know everything coming into the class. The best way for me to address this difficult aspect in EDM310 is to try to use it. I will never know if I can use the technology if I never try. I can research and ask question when I run across a problem as well. I do not have any questions just yet, but I sure many will come. When the questions do come, I will use the contacts that Dr. Strange has provided for his students.
"...I like knowing how to do everything." And that is good because to know you have to learn. Why take classes if you already know what you will learn from that class?
ReplyDeleteKastala, you seem very optimistic and determined to excel in the class. I could definitely use some of your optimism! Using new technology scares me too, and that is probably my biggest concern with EDM310. I know that we will both do well in this class as long as we stay on track and are able to manage our time wisely.
ReplyDeleteYou are in good company, Kastala. I, too, am a bit overwhelmed with the surge of technology my brain is having to absorb. The comforting part is that the entire EDM staff is on our side. They have a vested interest in our success. Managing our time will be crucial. Making sense of the Class Checklist is necessary, too. It has me a bit overwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteI was happy to see that I am not the only person in the class who is a little lost. I have never been required to do many of the tasks we have been asked to perform. When I took this class 12 years ago Twitter, Facebook and Google were unknown. Signing up for Twitter added a grey hair to my head. Have you signed up for it yet? Do you "know" how to efficiently use it?
This class is already a challenge and is stretching me far beyond my comfort zone, but I am excited to see what tips and advice we will leave for the next group of students coming through EDM 310.

ReplyDeleteTake a breath and calm down! Utilize the lab as much as possible and all of the help resources! We are here to help you and want you to succeed!
Allow yourself plenty of time to complete the assignments and really think about each one is related to your teaching philosophy!
